About Holmberg Properties.

Peter Holmberg established Holmberg Properties in 1985 as a diversified full-service real estate development and investment company. Since its founding, the company has been the owner and developer of commercial property, residential real estate and for a select group of clients, has provided services in the area of property management, real estate valuation, real estate sales, construction and project management.

The company started with the redesign and complete renovation of the Red Carpet Inn (now EconoLodge) on Shelburne Road, Shelburne, Vermont. The company saw an opportunity to capitalize on the growth of Vermont’s tourism industry by undertaking a value-added investment in a strong growth market. After the renovation and redesign, the property was sold to an investor as a stabilized hotel. As the company grew, it moved into the development of residential subdivisions in Chittenden and Addison counties, Vermont. Vermont was developing a strong professional class of highly-skilled, highly-educated workers looking for the quality of life benefits that Vermont offers. The strategic goal of the residential housing team at Holmberg Properties was to create fully functioning neighborhoods in Burlington’s suburbs that were designed for a high-end clientele looking to raise a family. Each development was conceived and developed from the philosophical outlook of creating superior properties in superior locations with a strong sense of place within their respective communities. All of the subdivisions are noted for their innovative land planning, convenient location and exclusive architecture.

Holmberg Properties’ early years developing residential neighborhoods combined with the construction management projects shaped senior management’s view of how to create value in New England’s property markets.

The company believes that the aging baby boomer class along with the need to redevelop New England’s aging downtown centers will produce superior returns in a competitive real estate market. Based on this philosophy, the company is undertaking two broad strategies.

  1. Investment in properties with close proximity to downtown, mixed-use centers. The company believes that the movement towards infill, sustainable, mixed-use development will drive property values and provide numerous redevelopment opportunities.
  2. Providing development services for public agencies as well as private companies looking to create care facilities. The company has a strong background in public-to-private development and has experience working with clients to fulfill their ongoing space needs.
